At Girl Meets Dirt, we make single-varietal preserves with heritage fruit, to celebrate this special terroir (the 'girl' in our logo holds the native Orcas pear-discovered growing wild on Orcas). The legacy of orchards in the San Juan Islands and their capacity to feed this community for over 135 years is our inspiration. To keep the agricultural history alive we steward island orchards with the most deeply-rooted trees, offering a depth of taste not found in commercially-grown fruits. We have a growing wholesale and distribution business with specialty food, cheese shops, & grocers across the country. We also have a retail shop, a growing online store and do weekly seasonal farmers markets in San Juan County. Orcas Island Farmer's Market Representative


Reports to: Sales Manager, Robin Meyer
Classification: 8-10 hours/week (hourly, nonexempt). Possibility of more hours as Sales Representation at Handpicked store at Girl Meets Dirt Headquarters, dependent on need, availability, and interest.
Location: Orcas Island, Washington
Pay Range: $15-$17 DOE + sales bonus available



We are seeking an individual to represent Girl Meets Dirt and sell our preserves, shrubs, bitters, and apparel at the Orcas Island Farmers Market. The Sales Representative is responsible for transporting all market gear, setting up and breaking down, handling money and credit card transactions, sampling product, and ensuring each customer has a positive experience. 


We are seeking someone who can give a commitment through the Market season. You do not need to have specific experience in sales, but we prefer it. You must be an excellent communicator, enjoy meeting & connecting with new people, and have a desire to learn and grow. 



  • Have a knack for selling (and/or willing to learn) 
  • Love good food and are passionate about island agriculture and/or fruit 
  • Customer service including utilization of POS 



  • Greet and serve customers in at Orcas Island Farmers Market 
  • Gather necessary supplies from GMD Headquarters in preparation for weekly market 
  • Set up stand in accordance with brand standards/examples provided 
  • Adhere to all Department of Health requirements 
  • Utilize mobile POS (Square or Shopify) to process transactions 
  • Complete weekly report with market details and necessary supplies 




Orcas Island Farmers Market: Farmer’s Markets are Saturdays from 10am-2pm from the first weekend of May until the last Weekend of September. The expectation is that the Sales Representative will arrive to the market on time and prepared with all necessary product and supplies meaning they will need to begin their shift approximately 1 hour prior to the start of the market. The stand must be broken down and product secured at the Girl Meets Dirt headquarters, typically requiring an additional 30 minutes-1 hour after close of farmer’s market.
